Have you had difficulty finding a truly affirming therapist?

A large sign on a white brick wall features a rainbow with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple stripes. The rainbow has the phrase "LOVE IS LOVE" in bold black letters across it. In the top right corner, there is a small message that says "WE LIKE YOU TOO" in black text.

I have a special interest in alternative relationship frameworks. I do not do couples work, but instead work with individuals who want to explore issues or dynamics in their current relationships or want explore the possibility of participating in a non-monogamous or kink space.

I will view your relationships through a lens of validity, without fear that the WAY you choose to love or express your sexuality will be pathologized.

There’s no “right” way to be in a relationship

I know that to be true after more than 15 years of helping my clients navigate both their identities and their relationships.

Affirming therapy can help with:

  • Allowing whatever issues you bring to therapy to be the issues, not your therapist’s perceptions of your sexuality and/or relationship style

  • A judgement-free space to explore sexuality and relationships without fear of encountering a pathology mindset.

About Jan

I am progressive in my politics, secular, and I believe that cursing is a valid form of self-expression. Humor is a big part of how I communicate and I believe it can get us through a lot of things.

Despite being a middle-aged white woman who grew up in the south, you will find no bigoted mindset here. I will never pretend to understand the totality of your experience, but I do promise to see you, hear you, and respect you, while being mindful of the systemic, familial, and cultural issues that may be impacting you.
